Many youth organizations in Massachusetts offer activities and services for children and teens. There are also many benefit programs available in Massachusetts to make sure that children and teens have food, shelter, health care, and other basic services.

Youth Activities Directory

Community centers, youth groups, museums, sports leagues, public parks, libraries, and other organizations offer activities and programs for children and teens. The Youth Activities Directory includes a listing of the many types of activities available for Massachusetts youth, with web site links and program information.


Summer Programs Guide

Massachusetts public schools, together with city and town governments, local colleges, community organizations, and other nonprofit groups, offer a wide range of summer activities for children and teens. Many of the programs are free, offer scholarships, or use a sliding fee scale based on income.


Benefit Programs

Massachusetts has many benefit programs to help children and teens living in the state. Some of these programs are specifically for youth. Other programs are not specifically for youth, but may have special rules or benefits for children and teens. Benefit programs that help children and teens living in Massachusetts include:

  • TAFDC, EAEDC, and SSI cash assistance programs
  • Early Intervention, Head Start, teen parent child care, and other childhood and preschool programs
  • Food stamps, WIC, school meals, food pantries, and other food and nutrition programs
  • Public education
  • MassHealth, Health Safety Net, Children's Medical Security Plan, and other health care programs

  • Emergency assistance and other homelessness programs
