How do I find a doctor who accepts MassHealth?
There are several ways to find a MassHealth doctor in your area:
-
Call MassHealth Customer Service at 1-800-841-2900 (TTY: 1-800-497-4648)
- Speak to a MassHealth Benefits Advisor at a community health center (CHC). To find a CHC in your area, use the Find a Health Center search tool on the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers web site.
-
If you are a member of a MassHealth MCO (Managed Care Organization), call your health plan for a referral. For MCO information, see MassHealth MCO Managed Care Health Plans.
How do I find a dentist who accepts MassHealth?
You can find a dentist who accepts MassHealth using "Find a Dental Provider" search tool on the MassHealth web site:
You can also call the MassHealth Dental Customer Service Center at 1-800-207-5019 (TTY: 1-800-466-7566). If you are enrolled in a MassHealth MCO, you can call your health plan for a referral. For MCO information, see MassHealth MCO Managed Care Health Plans.
When you call to make an appointment, be sure to ask if the dentist is accepting new MassHealth patients.
Some dental services, such as orthodontics, require prior authorization. Your dental provider must contact the MassHealth Dental Third Party Administrator at 1-800-207-5019 for approval of these services.
Where can I get eyeglasses with MassHealth?
To find an optician who accepts MassHealth for eyeglasses, call the MassHealth Customer Service Center at 1-800-841-2900 (TTY: 1-800-497-4648).
If you are enrolled in a MassHealth MCO, call your health plan for a referral. For MCO information, see MassHealth MCO Managed Care Health Plans.
You can also call opticians in your area and ask if they accept MassHealth insurance for eyeglasses. In general, the large vision center chain stores and the optical shops at major department stores do not accept MassHealth. You should try calling some of the small private opticians in your area.
You must choose your eyeglass frames from a special group of frames for MassHealth customers.
Where can I get smoking cessation services?
Smoking cessation services are services to help you stop smoking. MassHealth pays for these services if they are provided by a MassHealth physician, registered nurse, physician's assistant, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, or certified tobacco cessation counselor.
You can have a maximum of 16 individual or group counseling sessions and up to two regimens of nicotine replacement therapy (patch, gum, or lozenge) per year. You must get prior authorization for extra sessions or other medications.
