Benefit Programs
for noncitizens living in Massachusetts
Many assistance programs have special eligibility requirements for noncitizens. Eligibility for federally funded programs is based on a law known as PRWORA. Eligibility may depend on immigration status, date of entry, length of residency, and other factors. Programs not funded by the federal government do not have the same restrictions. Some benefit programs offer help to undocumented noncitizens, but others do not. For more information, see Noncitizen Eligibility Overview.
For answers to questions about immigration status and benefits, including Social Security numbers, public charge, sponsor deeming, and getting help in your own language, see Frequently Asked Questions.
